At Global Laser Surgery, we understand that medical care sometimes involves changes in circumstances. Our aim is to handle cancellations, rescheduling and refund requests fairly and transparently while also accounting for the time, clinical resources and arrangements involved in providing healthcare services.
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how payments and refund requests are handled for consultations, investigations, procedures and services arranged through Global Laser Surgery.
1. General Principles
Payments made to Global Laser Surgery relate to specific healthcare services, appointments, procedures or arrangements.
The availability of a refund depends on the nature of the service, whether the service has already been provided, whether resources have been committed on the patient’s behalf and the circumstances surrounding the cancellation.
Nothing in this policy is intended to remove or restrict any rights a patient may have under applicable law.
2. Consultation Appointments
If a patient has paid a consultation or appointment fee in advance and subsequently needs to cancel or reschedule, the patient should contact our team as early as possible.
Where sufficient notice is provided, we may offer:
- Rescheduling of the appointment; or
- A refund of the eligible amount, where applicable.
If a patient does not attend a scheduled appointment without providing reasonable notice, the consultation or booking fee may be retained to cover the appointment and resources reserved for the patient.
Where a consultation has already taken place, the consultation fee is generally not refundable because the professional service has already been provided.
3. Diagnostic Investigations
Where payment has been made for diagnostic investigations, refund eligibility may depend on whether the investigation has already been performed or whether arrangements, materials or services have already been booked or provided by a third party.
If an investigation has not yet been performed and no non-refundable cost has been incurred, a refund or adjustment may be considered in accordance with the circumstances.
If the investigation has already been performed, the related fee will generally not be refundable.
4. Surgical and Medical Procedures
For procedures and surgery, patients may be required to pay an advance or deposit to reserve a date and allow the healthcare team and facility to make the necessary arrangements.
Refund eligibility for an advance payment will depend on:
- Whether the procedure has been performed;
- Whether medical or hospital resources have already been reserved;
- Whether medicines, consumables, devices or other materials have been procured;
- Whether third-party charges have been incurred;
- The timing and reason for cancellation; and
- Any specific financial terms agreed with the patient before treatment.
Where a procedure has already been performed, fees relating to the completed medical service are not refundable.
5. When a Procedure Is Not Medically Recommended
A consultation or pre-treatment assessment may determine that a planned procedure is not clinically appropriate for a patient.
Patient safety remains the primary consideration in such circumstances.
If a procedure is not recommended by the treating healthcare professional, any refund or adjustment of an advance payment will be considered after taking into account services already provided and costs already incurred.
The fact that a procedure is not recommended does not automatically mean that every amount previously paid is refundable.
6. Cancellation by the Patient
Patients who need to cancel a consultation, procedure or treatment are requested to contact Global Laser Surgery as soon as possible.
Where a cancellation is made sufficiently in advance, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the appointment or determine whether an eligible refund can be provided.
Late cancellations may result in deductions for services, bookings or expenses that have already been incurred.
Any applicable refund will be assessed on the circumstances of the individual booking.
7. Cancellation or Rescheduling by Global Laser Surgery
There may be circumstances in which a consultation, procedure or appointment needs to be postponed, rescheduled or cancelled by Global Laser Surgery.
This may occur because of medical considerations, availability of the treating professional, hospital or facility requirements, unforeseen circumstances or other operational reasons.
Where this occurs, we will make reasonable efforts to offer an alternative appointment or treatment date.
If an appropriate alternative cannot be arranged, any refund due will be considered in accordance with the payment made, services already provided and applicable law.
8. Medical Changes Before Treatment
A patient’s medical condition may change between the initial consultation and the planned procedure.
Additional assessment may therefore be required before treatment.
If the treating healthcare professional determines that treatment should be postponed, modified or not undertaken, the patient’s payment will be reviewed according to the services already provided and costs incurred.
This is an important part of responsible medical care and should not be interpreted as a failure to provide the service.
9. International Patients and Medical Tourism
Global Laser Surgery may assist patients travelling from outside India for consultation, diagnosis or medical treatment.
International patients should understand that expenses associated with medical travel may include consultation fees, investigations, treatment, hospital charges, medicines, accommodation, transportation, travel insurance, visa-related expenses and other personal costs.
Unless specifically agreed otherwise in writing, expenses relating to flights, accommodation, visas, travel arrangements, local transportation and other personal arrangements are the responsibility of the patient.
If an international patient is unable to travel, has a visa issue, experiences a change in travel arrangements or decides not to proceed with treatment, any refund will be assessed according to the services already provided and costs incurred on the patient’s behalf.
We cannot guarantee reimbursement of third-party expenses such as airline tickets, hotels, travel arrangements or visa charges.
10. Medical Tourism Arrangements
Where Global Laser Surgery or an authorized representative assists with coordinating appointments, hospital arrangements, investigations or other healthcare-related services, certain costs may be payable to third-party providers.
If such costs have already been paid or committed to a third party, the amount may not be refundable by Global Laser Surgery.
Where a third-party provider has its own cancellation or refund policy, that policy may also apply.
Patients will be informed of significant third-party costs or arrangements where reasonably practicable.
11. Medicines, Medical Devices and Consumables
Payments relating to medicines, medical devices, implants, surgical materials, customized items or other healthcare consumables may be subject to the policies of the relevant supplier, hospital or pharmacy and applicable law.
Once such items have been supplied, opened, customized, ordered specifically for a patient or used in treatment, they may not be eligible for return or refund.
12. Refunds for Services Already Provided
Fees relating to professional medical services that have already been provided are generally not refundable.
This may include, depending on the circumstances:
- Medical consultations;
- Specialist assessments;
- Diagnostic interpretation;
- Procedures already completed;
- Pre-operative assessments;
- Treatment planning;
- Medical documentation prepared specifically for a patient; and
- Other professional services that have already been delivered.
13. Refund Processing
Where a refund is approved, we will normally process it using the original payment method wherever practical.
The time required for the refund to appear in the patient’s account may depend on the payment provider, bank or card issuer.
Where a payment was made through a third-party payment gateway, any processing time or charges imposed by that provider may affect the timing or amount received, where legally permissible.
We will communicate with the patient if additional information is required to process a refund.
14. Currency and International Payments
International patients may make payments using payment methods or currencies supported by Global Laser Surgery or its payment providers.
Where a refund is made in a different currency or processed through an international payment provider, the amount received by the patient may differ because of exchange-rate movements or bank charges.
Global Laser Surgery does not control exchange rates or charges imposed independently by banks, card issuers or payment providers.
15. Refund Requests
To request a refund, please contact our team using the contact details provided on the Global Laser Surgery website.
The request should include:
- Patient name;
- Appointment or booking details;
- Date of payment;
- Amount paid;
- Payment reference, where available; and
- Reason for the refund request.
We may request additional information where necessary to verify the payment and assess the request.
16. Review of Refund Requests
Each refund request will be reviewed based on the circumstances of the individual case.
Our assessment may take into consideration:
- The service purchased;
- Whether the service has been provided;
- The date of cancellation;
- Costs already incurred;
- Third-party charges;
- Medical circumstances;
- Any written agreement or quotation provided to the patient; and
- Applicable laws and regulations.
We aim to communicate the outcome of a refund request clearly and within a reasonable period.
17. No Refund Based Solely on Treatment Outcome
Medical treatment is different from the purchase of an ordinary consumer product.
Treatment outcomes can vary between patients and depend on many clinical factors.
A patient may therefore not be entitled to a refund solely because the medical outcome differs from an expectation or because recovery takes longer than anticipated.
Questions concerning treatment outcomes should first be discussed with the treating healthcare professional.
Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies available to a patient under applicable law.
18. Insurance and Third-Party Reimbursement
Global Laser Surgery does not determine whether a patient’s health or travel insurance provider will reimburse the cost of treatment.
Patients are responsible for checking their insurance coverage before arranging treatment.
If an insurance provider declines a claim, the patient’s payment obligation to Global Laser Surgery or the relevant healthcare provider is not automatically cancelled.
19. Policy Changes
We may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, payment arrangements or applicable requirements.
The latest version will be published on this website with the date of the most recent update.
Any specific financial terms agreed with a patient in writing before treatment may apply to that patient’s booking, subject to applicable law.
